Matchplay
The purpose of this matchplay series is to create a developmental pathway to ensure all players have a positive experience on court, developing mental & physical skills through matchplay.
Introduction of different matchplay formats specifically designed for a fun focus that supports lots of point play, learning to compete, different ways of scoring while being part of a team and as an individual player.
Learning tennis etiquette - shaking hands, keeping the score, learning to win and lose graciously.
Players will play a mixture of singles and doubles, with each match being 40 minutes each.
Please note, tennis is not a timed sport officially. This is a modified event to create a meaningful event.
Location: Edgar Centre
Warm up: 3:50pm
Start time: 4pm
Finish time: 5pm
Format:
Players will play two rounds of 40 minutes matches. Depending on entries at each event players will play both a singles and doubles or play two of the same.
Matches will be played up to 9 games, long deuce.
Players are to self umpire with the support of the on court supervisor which will be named each week.
Self umpire requires players to call lines, lets, faults and keep track of the score.
